Alba and its remarkable landscapes

Alba is one of THE foodie destinations. It is renowned for its truffles and hazelnuts, for its Barbaresco and Borolo wines, and for the Slow Food movement.

We will look at the wine and food in more detail in the next post. Here we look at the extraordinary countryside around Alba.

The old part of Alba is quaint but also lively and interesting. Unlike the hillside villages, it is flat and easy to walk around.

But it is the countryside around Alba that is remarkable, with some of the most stunning landscapes you will find. The numerous hills are densely planted with grape vines and hazelnut trees. The hills are topped by the cutest of villages.

The Alps are not far away from this fertile and productive region. The mountain shown below, Monviso, may have inspired the Paramount Pictures logo.
