This post is a continuation from Hanoi: The Sights.

We name certain restaurants and establishments in some blog posts simply because we enjoyed them, not for promotional reasons.

While the traffic is one dominating feature of Vietnam, food is another: there seem to be food outlets and street-sellers everywhere.

And there are markets, of course.

You can eat pho for breakfast. You can find a little street-side cafe. You can go to the Hotel Metropole for their extraordinary Vietnamese buffet lunch. Or you can take coffee or have a French-style dessert late at night.

The range of food options is remarkable. We illustrate with the dishes we tried at two restaurants. In both cases the photos were taken in situ, exactly as they arrived at the table. They illustrate the extraordinary freshness of Vietnamese cuisine.

The first restaurant is Madame Hien, Chan Cam Street, Hoan Kiem District.

The second restaurant is Koto, near the Temple of Literature.

With so much variety in the food of Vietnam, one needs some expert guidance. Click here for the next post in our Vietnam journey: Hanoi: The Cooking School.
